CPOP entered the outsider art scene in 1999 with a splash opening that featured Winston's work along with the likes of Frank Kozik, Robert Williams, Coop, Eric White... the list goes on. It's literally a million dollar facility and Winston's looking forward to filling the walls of their downstairs gallery with a variety of new works plus prints and originals of older favorites from his early days as a Punk artist.

During the month of February, Winston Smith, "God-Father" of Punk Collage Art and one of San Francisco's premier editorial Illustrators will show new and ancient works at the up-and-coming Culture Cache Gallery, 731 Florida Street at 20th Street.

The February show at Culture Cache marks Winston's first San Francisco solo show since the popular Winter '98 double-header retrospective at the Minna Street and Lawrence Hultberg Galleries. Whereas the 1998 shows offered the public a first-ever chance to view and purchase original collages and prints of images published in Winston's two books Act Like Nothing's Wrong and Artcrime (both published by Last Gasp of San Francisco), the current show will feature entirely new works plus a selection of obscure images from Winston's early DADA days when he was publishing his pre-"zine"-era zine, FALLOUT.

Opening fete at Culture Cache is Saturday February 3rd from 7-11pm. Serious collectors of rare punk era ephemera are advised to come early as Winston has promised to offer some works at bargain basement prices.

Proceeds from this send-off party will go to the Iraq Water Project and help Bay Area Gulf War veteran Keith Boylan return to Iraq with other United States Military Veterans who are bravely returing to Iraq to help rebuild water treatment facilities that were either destroyed by U.S. and British bombers or rendered inoperable by the allied-led economic sanctions.

Can't make the party? There's lots of other ways to help out.
